Well there really has been a gap in my posts hasn't there? Sadly I was involved in a very serious traffic accident last year and I've been a bit of a mess for a while. Thankfully been back at work for a few months and on the mend, although it's going to take a while till I'm walking normally again.
So what's happened? Well one of my cases has just completed the inquest. A very tragic unnecessary death that could easily have been avoided. It's been interesting to listen to the news reports on TV and to have a very indepth understanding of what actually happened. Some of what they report is absolute rubbish though.
Metal thefts are going through the roof. Everything is being targetted. Alluminium, copper you name it. It's all being knicked from wherever the theiving sods can get their hands on it. Trouble is, they don't just target scrap metal from yards. They also target things like TV pilons, train tracks etc. They take the copper earthing straps that are there for a reason. They protect the installations from lighting strikes.
The last lot was from a radio antenae used by the military and the emergency services. The pilon was offline for 3 hours which rediuced the communications that the emergency services used. I don't need to tell you that that's a serious risk to peoples' lives. Yet these w**kers would rather risk peoples' lives than miss the opportunity to earn a few quid in copper scrap!
